Japan-based centralized cryptocurrency exchange launched in 2014, affected by a major unauthorized outflow disclosed in September 2018, and transferred from Tech Bureau to Fisco Cryptocurrency Exchange in November 2018 before continuing under the Zaif brand.
Tech Bureau disclosed that cryptocurrency held for the Zaif service had been unlawfully transferred following external unauthorized access, with later Zaif materials describing losses of roughly 7 billion yen in BTC, MONA, and BCH.
The Zaif Exchange and Zaif Instant Exchange businesses were transferred from Tech Bureau to Fisco Cryptocurrency Exchange effective November 22, 2018 as part of the post-incident restructuring and customer-compensation process.
